Google Analytics alternative

After the Google Analytics downtime last week, I decided to check out some alternatives to track things like campaigns, trial downloads and sales. We are using AWStats for the general traffic analysis, but it isn’t effective for conversion tracking. So, after looking at some of the available options, I found Stuffed Tracker from Stuffed Guys. It fulfills all the requirements we have for conversion tracking:

• Able to track campaigns, sales and trial downloads
• Can be hosted on our servers
• No monthly fee/subscription needed
• Clean and fast interface
• Uses PHP/MySQL platform

Stuffed Tracker does all this and more. A cool feature that we will probably try in the future is called split testing. It lets you generate a special URL that randomly sends visitors to different landing pages. You are then able to measure the effectiveness of the different landing pages by tracking the trial downloads/sales. I haven’t seen this feature in other conversion tracking tools so far (although some probably have it too). Anyway, we have the Stuffed Tracker trial running on our company website and if things continue to be looking good, we will purchase it and use it for our tracking needs.
